Ketchikan, Alaska to Anchorage, Alaska
Rail-Rental car-Ferry
If you fly into Ketchikan a day or two early you will have time to see the area before taking the ferry north. This is not the most convenient ferry departure or arrival time but an interesting cruise on the ferry because it includes a look at the Village of Kake.
Day 1-Sunday or early Monday
Board the ferry in Ketchikan and sail north. You will transit the Wrangell Narrows very late tonight. Overnight on board the ferry.

Day 2-Monday
Visit Wrangell, Petersburg and the village of Kake today. Overnight on board the ferry.
Day 3-Late Monday or very early Tuesday
Arrive in Sitka today. Tuesday is free for seeing more of Sitka. Recommended is the Totem Heritage Center and a visit to the Sheldon Jackson Museum. Overnight in Sitka.
Day 4-Wednesday
Take the fast ferry this afternoon to Juneau. Overnight in Juneau.
Depart 1:30 pm Arrive 6:00 pm
Day 5-Thursday
The entire day is free in Juneau. Recommended is a visit to the Alaska State Museum or an optional trip to Tracy Arm Fjord. Overnight in Juneau.
Day 6-Friday
Take the ferry this afternoon along the Lynn Canal to Skagway. Overnight in Skagway.
Depart 3:00 pm Arrive 9:30 pm
Day 7-Saturday
The day is free in Skagway for the trip on the White Pass Railroad.
Overnight in Skagway.
Day 8-Sunday
Pick up your AVIS rental car this morning and drive north along the Klondike Highway. Whitehorse, Capitol of the Yukon Territory is worth a visit. The MacBride Museum near the river is recommended. Drive north on the Alaska Highway and overnight in Beaver Creek, Yukon.
Day 9-Monday
Continue north to Fairbanks from Beaver Creek. You will see the Trans-Alaska pipeline near Delta Junction, Alaska. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 10-Tuesday
The entire day is free in Fairbanks. Recommended is a visit to the University of Alaska and the Museum of the North. The optional trip on the Riverboat Discovery is also recommended. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 11-Wednesday
Board the Alaska Railroad this morning for the trip to Denali Park. The afternoon is free at Denali. Overnight in Denali Park.
Depart 8:15 am Arrive 12:00 Noon
Day 12-Thursday
The day is free in Denali for the optional shuttle trip into the park. Return to your lodgings at the park entrance this afternoon. Overnight in Denali Park.
Day 13-Friday
After a morning free in Denali, board the Alaska Railroad for the trip to Anchorage.
Depart 12:00 Noon Arrive 8:15 pm
